This course will review the history of tobacco use in the United States and worldwide, as well as discuss the demographics and health related concerns of tobacco use in the general population. We will review tobacco use as an addiction and talk about ways we can support patients faced with the challenge of quitting.
- Discuss the history of tobacco use
- Identify populations, health, and demographics as they relate to smoking/tobacco use
- Analyze tobacco use as an addiction
- Develop personal approaches to assist our patients in quitting
Speaker: Dr. Beck practiced dentistry in Oklahoma and was a faculty member at Oklahoma Health Sciences University School of Dentistry. In 1999 he returned to Oregon and began practicing at Mt. Tabor Dental. He is also an Associate Professor at OHSU in the departments of Community and Restorative Dentistry where he has taught since returning to Portland.
