Caries risk assessment is much more than a form; rather, it incorporates patient centered engagement techniques while also changing behavior.  Flossing, oral fluids, fluoride, and other topics concerning evidence based cariology create the perfect lens to examine how CAMBRA (Caries Management By Risk Assessment) has the ability to transform the practice of dentistry into oral healthcare. This course will introduce new anti-caries therapeutics including Sodium Diamine Fluoride, the latest on qualitative laser fluorescence, electrical impedance, monoclonal antibody tests, biofilm ATP  analysis, and salivary diagnostics, to clinicians seeking to re-examine and embrace improved strategies of preventive dentistry.

Course Objectives:

  • Use Caries Risk Assessment to track health outcomes
  •  Implement the ADA Caries Classification System
  • “WATR” lesions rather than “Watch” lesions
  •  Describe critical salivary proteins required for health
  •  Change the cariogenicity of plaque
