Course Overview:

This one-day course will be an exciting sampling of and preparation for Oregon AGD’s Implants for General Dentists Study Club that will start October 2020. You will learn the principals and clinical benefits of socket preservation for single and multiple extraction sites. In addition, membrane usage and placement, grafting benefits and principles will be reviewed. You will also review and practice suturing techniques; models provided. Participants are invited to have a more hands-on experience by bringing a patient for extraction and socket preservation. Patient must be approved by the course instructor. Those who choose not to bring a patient may assist and observe.

Course Objectives:

  • Learn to evaluate a site for grafting


  • Understand the differences in a variety of grafting materials


  • Review the properties of bone


  • Know when a case might be beyond your skill level and when to refer


  • Increase skill and confidence suturing

About the Clinician:

Dr. Eshraghi received his Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State University in 2002, and both his DMD and Specialty Certificate in Periodontics from Oregon Health and Science University in 2006 and 2009 respectively. Dr. Eshraghi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and maintains private practices in Beaverton and Tualatin, OR. He remains affiliated with OHSU as an assistant professor and actively teaches advanced surgical skills including implant placement. He is passionate about teaching and is pioneering the use of advanced computer aided technologies such as CT scans, CAD/ CAM guided surgery and 3D printing into the practice of periodontics.
