Course Overview:

This study club is designed for practitioners who have extensive experience placing and restoring dental implants. It is formally a ‘by invitation only’ group for which participation has now been opened. Each session will be directed at the advanced practitioner. October (date not confirmed): Dr. Andrew Peterson will explore clinical soft tissue considerations, challenges and interventions for implants November 15, 2019 (date not confirmed…let Peterson decide first): This session will help you further integrate professional office and clinical support into your implant practice. It will include a half day on sterile technique and infection control for both the assistant and doctor and a half day on coding and documentation strategies for your front desk staff and dental assistants. This session will help you streamline and fine-tune your full practice approach! January 31, 2020: Dr. James Rutkowski will review relevant Pharmacology, grafting materials and blood products. Participants will be invited to submit specific questions in advance of this interactive, live webcasted session. Dr. Rutkowski’s extensive practical experience will blow your mind! He has been invited back to speak for this study club every few years by popular demand! April 24, 2020: Dr. Daniel Petrisor will speak on ridge augmentation in the mandible specifically around the mental foramen. You will learn fine dissection techniques in this area and how to graft effectively while avoiding injury to the mental nerve. Dr. Pertrisor will also provide an update on grafting materials like bone products what are truly osteoinductive. He will review osteoconductivifty and discuss specific osteocel type products. This hands-on session will help dispel contradictory information around these topics and bring your practice up to date with the latest techniques.

About the Clinician:

James L. Rutkowski, D.M.D., PhD. received his B.S. in Pharmacy from Duquesne University in 1972, his D.M.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1976, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Duquesne University Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2008. Dr. Rutkowski maintains a general dental practice in Clarion, Pennsylvania that focuses on treating the apprehensive/medically-compromised patient and utilizing oral, inhalation, and intravenous sedation techniques for patient management. Dr. Rutkowski is also President/CEO of the Clarion Research Group that performs translational research for bone growth and salivary diagnostics, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Oral Implantology and a Diplomate/Past-President of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID). He lectures nationally and internationally on pharmacology, sedation techniques and bone grafting as it applies to implant dentistry.
