Course Overview:

Are you a general dentist who would like to feel more comfortable managing your pediatric patients and performing pediatric examinations? While dentistry often focuses on the technical aspects of our work, it is only through effective handling of patients that our technical work can be at its best. Learn from Dr. Psaltis’ years of clinical experience how pediatric dentistry is unique and that each appointment requires that the dentist must successfully communicate with both children and parents and manage the behavior of both. Course participants will learn the principles of behavior management through discussion and demonstrations in video footage showing actual patients in treatment and how to best handle them. Every Pediatric dental exam is like a new patient exam due to the dynamics of growth and development. There is much to see in the mouths of children other than caries and loose teeth! This lecture covers recognition of anomalies, growth and development, dentition symmetry and balance and more.

Course Objectives:

• Understand multiple aspects of a thorough pedo-exam • Learn principles of behavior management • Become proficient conducting a comprehensive pedo-exam • Understand the breadth of pediatric dentistry’s restorative protocols
